The Vale is an established dementia residential care home, situated within a quiet area of Maidstone, yet convenient for the High Street and town's amenities. The Vale is a well run care home that offers a friendly atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and at ease.
The Vale Care Home occupies a prime location on Willington Street in Maidstone, just across the road from the historic, 450 acre Mote Park. The area has long been favoured for its subdued, high-end residential flavour, its safe, friendly atmosphere and its proximity to the Kent Downs. The manor style home itself is spacious and well-appointed with many amenities, including a secluded garden with patio, where residents often enjoy afternoon tea with their fellows. There is a charming conservatory that is bright and cheerful all year round, and which extends from the back of the home on the peaceful Otterbourne Cul de Sac.
The Vale Care Home in Maidstone is part of the Charing Healthcare family of care homes. We have been providing high-quality, personalized care for seniors in various stages of life’s journey for more than 20 years. Every member of our staff, from the maintenance team right on up to the medical professionals who watch over our residents, is driven by the same desire to provide your loved one with a safe, healthy and uplifting experience. Each staff member undergoes rigorous training in manual handling, first aid, infection control, food hygiene and more. And each is required to partake in regularly scheduled refresher courses to keep their skillset up-to-date. We also maintain close working relationships with local medical professionals including district nurses, doctors and others. As well as with local ambulance services and emergency medical centres. Of paramount concern to every member of the management team is that each resident is treated with the utmost dignity, respect and patient concern from the moment they step through the door for the first time. It is this commitment to a higher standard of care that separates Charing Healthcare facilities, including The Vale Care Home, from the pack.
The home is well maintained and boasts a large dining room and two comfortable lounge areas with floor to ceiling windows and flat screen televisions. Guests often congregate in these areas before and after meals to catch up with friends, read a magazine and enjoy the warm, relaxing environment. The home is equipped with a quiet, dependable lift and, for those who require it, a stair chair to facilitate ease of movement between floors. There is also a hairdressing room where residents can have their hair done salon-style during visits from a professional hairdresser. Each bedroom is comfortably furnished and has its own unique ambiance. Residents are encouraged to bring personal effects with them in order to give the space a “homey” feel and to provide important emotional touchstones. Ensuite rooms are also available.
We offer all our clients 3 meals a day, which are breakfast, lunch and high tea, which are all prepared to a high standard, as well as snacks and refreshments throughout the day. We offer a variety of dishes to choose from our menu each day for each meal. The Vale Care Home in Maidstone has a seasonal menu, which works on a 4 weekly cycle. All our food is freshly brought in, homemade and nutritionally balanced, which we feel is very important. Meals can be taken in the dining room, Conservatory or in the client's own room depending on where they would like to eat. Our menu's may vary slightly depending on the client's needs/likes. Please feel free to take a look at our Example Menu.
Mum has been in The Vale Care Home since June 2022 after the previous home closed and can not fault it. The staff are very caring and friendly both to mum and us as a family, nice and clean great home cooked food with a good choice. They really make the residents feel special at different events eg Birthdays, Easter Christmas etc. mum really loves it there and is doing really well the staff keep us well informed it’s a pleasure to go there to see her knowing that she is happy and well looked after thank you to all the staff.
My Mother has been in the Vale care home for over a year. Staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. She has a very lovely room , the home is always clean. They have lovely meals and plenty of drinks and tasty snacks. She has made a very special friend it’s so lovely to see them together. I couldn’t have found anywhere better for my mum to stay.
The Vale care home has been amazing. Mum has been in the Vale since April 22 and made some lovely friends. I cannot fault the staff, nothing is too much trouble and are always on the end of the phone to answer any queries. I cannot recommend the Vale care home enough. Thank you all for looking after mum and making sure she is happy. It is peace of mind for us all.
Mum has been in The Vale Care Home since June 2022 it is a really lovely caring place to be. Everyone is so friendly and caring to both mum and family and nothing is too much trouble. We are kept well informed about mum and if there are any concerns it is sorted out straight away it is led by a great management team. The food is excellent with a good choice and homemade. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do it is very much appreciated.
Dad has been at The Vale Care Home for over a year now, sadly his dementia has advanced during this time and he is now almost nonverbal. The staff and new manager are fantastic, finding ways to communicate with him and his reaction to them is a clear sign of just how they all understand him and his ways and needs. He is such a quiet gentleman, so we worried he might just blend in and be forgotten when he couldn't communicate. Recently he had a short stay in hospital and staff came to do an assessment for him returning back to The Vale, Dad recognised her straight away and held onto her hand trying his best to follow instructions from her when he wasn't really engaging with hospital staff. Again this is a clear demonstration of how they take the time to engage with residents to really understand them. It truly makes the experience for us, as a family, so much easier seeing him content and genuinely cared for. Thank you.
The Vale care home has been amazing. Mum has settled in so well and is so happy. She has made some lovely friends. I cannot fault the staff, nothing is too much trouble and are always on the end of the phone to answer any queries. I cannot recommend the Vale enough. Thank you all for looking after mum and making sure she is happy. It is peace of mind for us all.
The manager and the manager's assistant have been outstanding in their support and guidance through the whole process of moving my mother from her previous respite care home to her permanent care at The Vale care home. Always available for advice and guidance through what has been a very stressful period for the whole family. Ensuring both my mother's and family's priorities have been taken care of. My mother has settled in very quickly, gaining a new best friend. The supporting staff are very helpful and cater well for all her medical and dietary needs. A variety of menus ensures she eats well. Her room is a lovely size and well decorated with her personal belongings and pictures installed by the maintenance team, making it very homely. Regular entertainment for the residents, music often playing when I visit with residents often up dancing. We are pleased she is in a safe, secure and friendly environment. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and her staff.
Such a warm and inviting home. The staff are very friendly, helpful and always jolly. The residents appear happy, content and well cared for. My friend has settled in very well and is thriving since moving into The Vale. A big thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart.
The staff have been kind, caring and attentive throughout my husband's stay at the Vale care home. All the staff have gone out of their way to be helpful and nothing has been too much trouble for them. This has included caring for me too. I was particularly impressed that within a week of him being there, the staff were talking to him about our grandchildren by name and commented that he always lit up when they were mentioned. There is a happy atmosphere and a homely feel.
I certainly recommend The Vale! The staff are very caring, friendly and efficient and do a great job of looking after my sister. Well done, and keep up the great work! I have every confidence that the staff do everything possible to care for my sister’s every need.
I would like to say a massive heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Vale for making my Grandad feel so at home, happy and taking such good care of him during his two years spent there. My sister and I, searched long and hard to find the perfect home for our Grandad, and The Vale certainly was that. The staff are caring, compassionate and loyal. Nothing was ever too much for them. When my Grandad was in his last few days, the staff cared and looked after us as a family just as much as they cared for Grandad, and for this, I’ll be forever grateful to them. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Vale Care Home, they are all so welcoming. You can visit anytime day or night. The food is lovely with lots of choices, and the staff are truly amazing with the residents.
As a family, we spent a long time searching for the right home for my Dad, and The Vale was perfect for him. It has a very warm, friendly, homely feel, and the staff are all amazing. The food is excellent, and the home is always clean. Dad really enjoyed all the entertainment and the visits from the barber. Dad lived there for nearly two and a half years, and we are so thankful to all the staff for their exceptional care of him and supporting us in his final days.
Every staff member at The Vale works hard to ensure that my mum is cared for at all times. We never feel the need to worry about my mum as we know that if there were any issues the staff would contact us or tell us on a visit. We have been kept up to date when policies have changed and never feel out of the loop. The Vale is a warm and friendly home that is run by staff who put the residents first. I personally am grateful to be able to visit Mum and know that staff go out of their way to accommodate visits, even in these strange times. A great safe place for any person to reside in. Thank you to all staff.
I would like to thank the manager and all of her staff at The Vale for their caring and friendly environment. My mother has lived at the Vale for several years now and in the past 10 months all the staff have helped my mother in this difficult time when she hasn't been able to hug me - keeping her calm and well looked after. I am very glad I found The Vale for my mother and am pleased with the friendly and kind environment that The Vale provides her with - I do not think my mother could be in a better place!
My aunt has been living at The Vale for four years. My brother and I chose the home for its kind, friendly staff, and the happy atmosphere in the lounge. Importantly, she is happy, always well cared for, and loves the carers. When we could visit, I would turn up unannounced, and always received a warm welcome. I've been impressed with the knowledge and understanding of my aunt's developing dementia, and always touched by the staff's compassion. That is always shown to her, but I've experienced it myself too, when I was bereaved a couple of years ago. I have often been impressed at the calm atmosphere in the home, which accommodates people who can get agitated or confused; the staff are on hand immediately when someone needs reassuring. I like the practice of staff completing paperwork in the lounge, so they are present, and can help quickly. No regrets about choosing The Vale for my aunt. It is her home, and I dearly hope she is able to stay there as long as she needs a place to live.
My mother has degenerative dementia and can only manage with high levels of care. She is happy and content in The Vale and has never complained about her care or treatment. During this last year she has been kept safe from Covid and certainly, at 90, she would not have survived if still living in the community. Although we have had only weekly window visits we have no reason to be concerned about her care. Although isolated from her real family during this unusual year we know she is happy with her new Vale family.
My Mum has been a resident at The Vale now for a few months. The care she receives is outstanding, the staff are thoughtful, polite and caring towards her. My Mum enjoys the food that is cooked and there is plenty of choices. Entertainment and activities take place during the week and the home is well maintained and clean.
I wish to thank all the staff who helped my sister to celebrate her 83rd birthday on 9th March 2020. Thanks also for making a lovely birthday cake for her.
The decision to move Mum into a care home was really difficult, however, once my Mum moved into The Vale, I found the staff supportive towards her, helping her with her day-to-day living. The manager is approachable, and nothing is ever too much trouble. My Mum's room is spacious and is kept clean.
My Mum has been at The Vale for 5 months now and during this time I have found the staff to be professional and friendly. There is a hairdressing salon where my Mum can get her hair cut and activities and trips out are arranged. The home smells clean and the food is good.
This is a great care home. My Dad is in the home, he is enjoying his time there, and is well looked after. There is always something going on from bingo to singers. The meals are lovely, and there is plenty of variety. The staff are wonderful, they work very hard, and the home is kept clean.
The staff at the Vale are available to talk and discuss any issues with my mum. The staff are kind and helpful and also caring towards all residents and family members visiting. My mum is always well cared for and happy. The staff always ensure that her safety is their first priority. There are always the same staff who are smiling, happy and always welcome us when we visit mum. The management ensures that everything runs smoothly, and are always available if we need to chat to make us aware of any changes in our mum's care needs.
My nan always seems happy and gets on really well with the staff. I cannot fault The Vale and the staff.
Very friendly environment. All staff are kind and helpful. Whenever I visit my Mother all the residents appear happy and comfortable. They have lots of activities in the week. My Mother is always relaxed which says a lot for all the staff's efforts! I am very happy with the care and affection all the staff give to my mother.
From my husband and my first visit, we found The Vale very friendly and homely. The staff are kind and considerate.
The staff there are so lovely, welcoming and friendly. We have not seen Mum as happy for years as she was at The Vale. She loved it there. The manager and her deputy are amazing and they get to know them individually and what works for each of them to make them happy. We can’t thank them enough for getting to know her so well and being able to help her so much. We have some amazing photos of Mum joining in with the great activities. The manager and team certainly have created a loving place there.
Nice friendly environment, the staff are always happy to help. The residents always look very happy.
The staff are hard working and I admire them for the job they do. I find them friendly and polite. I now have peace of mind that my mother is safe and has the level of care that I could no longer provide. I visit mum 2-3 times a week and have gotten to know the staff, so I have confidence in their abilities - if mum's not well, they call the doctor (antibiotics this month). If her teeth go missing, they contact the dentist.
The Vale provides a lot of stimulation for the residents both on a personal level or group. The food is imaginative and good, both these things are important to my mother as she enjoys both. She is content at The Vale which makes me happy.
The Vale is a home offering good care and friendship to all residents. Staff are continuously monitoring frail and vulnerable residents. Residents look clean and tidy. Activities to promote mobility and mental activity are regularly done. Activities including local churches and schools take place. Medical assistance is quickly obtained if required.
